Whew, what an experience we had the night of the 3rd! We (my mom, my sister, brother and I) went to play with a band in a two hour long parade about 1/2 away. Soon after we all were sitting on the float, ready to go, it started to rain. It tapered off, and we hoped it was cleared up for good. It started to pour just as we were getting started, everyone (and everything, including the music + our instruments) got soaked! It was interesting, but not something I'd want to do again :)
This morning a chicken crossed the road (literally!) and sat itself on our porch. It tried to fly in the front door a few times, then it calmed down and ate some crackers from my hand. We found out it belonged to one of the three chicken owning people in our neighborhood. Apparently the chickens regularly walk around their front yard, a dog had chased it down to our place.
