Ahh, the sweet smell of spring! It was almost warm enough to open my window today. Funny thing, it's actually the first day of winter.

I read Vanity Fair last week. Interesting book, but it is wholly without a point. It held me in it's grasp long enough to make me loose sleep for three nights. I don't have the time to sit down a finish books, so I have to read a few minutes each night. A few minutes turns the clock ahead to 10:30 or so, which is well into my normal la-la-land time.

Last night I started The Jungle Book #1, this morning I started The Jungle Book #2. Although it's better than a movie, I still feel like I'm wasting my time. Later on I've got a really old edition of some stories by George Elliot. Hopefully I will come up with some more great books like Persecution (Limbaugh), The Real American (Beck), and Slander (Coulter).

I made THE 'Nieman Marcus Cookies'. They taste great, the new oven cooks them so evenly. Our old stove burned cookies on one side, so it was really hard to get them just right.

1 lb. butter, melted/softened
2 C. sugar
2 C. brown sugar
Cream together, add
4 eggs
2 t. vanilla
Mix together (fork works great), add
5 C. finely ground oatmeal
4 C. flour
2 t. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
Mix together, add
3 C. chocolate chips
3 C. chopped walnuts

Be sure you start out with a large bowl. Roll/spoon them into small balls, bake for 7 minutes (varies) at 350. This recipe makes around 140 small cookies, the dough freezes nicely, it's simple to pop them in the oven if they're already made into balls.

I know my blogging is sporadic at best, but I know there are people who read this every once in a while :) So...for the present I will carry on. Everyone have a Merry Christmas! (and if you are easily addicted to things, DON'T MAKE THE COOKIES! You'll regret it the rest of your life!!!!!!!!). lol
