Finally, a picture post!
I realized that I have several projects going on that I could take pictures of to blog.

But before that, what have you found to be helpful when trying to be kinder to people? Lately I have been thinking about how often (way too often!) I reply to a reasonable question in a very unreasonable way. I know that only with God's help I can change, but often I forget and afterwards regret speaking the way I did. It's ridiculous because I would think someone else was being mean if I responded the way I do, yet I don't even think of it when doing it myself.

I have been quilting again. The bug that bit me at the Myers in Kentucky gave me a virus that will permanently be in my bloodstream. I'll have to deal with irrational urges to buy fabric and probably have to buy a lot of thread to piece things together. I like it :D
Here are the fabrics I'm working with.

Here are the pieces cut out (the stacks at right), and two finished squares (except for ironing).

I woke up this morning to snow. We went to the studio last night and drove 3 hours round trip through sleet, rain, and snow.

My cabbage came up! The zinnia are also up, the basil I THNK are up and the rest remain in their egg cartons, waiting to meet the fluorescent lights above my desk.

I heard something on the radio the other day about something that has very much to do with all of life. Pride. Is being humble just downing yourself all of the time? No way! You can say bad things about yourself all of the time but you can still be proud before God and others. If you find bad things to say about yourself, find out what's causing the problem and FIX IT! If it's something unchangeable, why draw attention to it and yourself? When we were playing volleyball in the fall in Kentucky I found that I'd always have something bad to say about my play nearly every time the ball came my way. And you know what, instead of just being humble and trying harder next time I just drew attention to myself (is that humble?) and everyone else had to listen to me rant about myself.
So anyhow, as far as the workout things go, pride can ruin anything. Pride and arrogance make whatever it is you're doing a stench to God, as far as Proverbs says. Whatever you do, do it unto the Lord. Physical training is of SOME value but godliness is good for all things.
My weights :) Actually the barbell is my brother's, he's very nicely loaning it to me. Yes, the exercise bike is rusty but it works. It almost works too well. After a few cardio sessions my left knee kind of feels funny. Speaking of pains, yesterday I wore a pair of sneakers I rarely wear and today my achilles was really bad. Yesterday I was getting shin splints while walking to work in those shoes. I think the heel on the shoes has something to do with it.

Today I finished one quilt top (the one I mentioned and blogged about) and started a smaller project. The finishing went fine, but the second quilt I started went terribly.
It looks better in the picture!
Quilt 1.

Quilt 2. (disaster).

I started cutting a quilt Saturday, Sunday we had a concert in CT, and today I spent a lot of time piecing the quilt. Here are some pictures.
Here are ALL of the pieces, except the binding and the backing.

(I haven't calculated yet how many pieces there are altogether.)

Carol decided she was going to take a picture. That square there on the table is one of the first two I made, one of each color combination. Hannah Myers in Kentucky taught me how to do it (THANK YOU HANNAH :) but I scaled it down a little. Instead of 9 1/2" squares these are 7 inches.
Ok, additions to the post (I edited this.)
Here's a batch of pizza dough I made last time I cooked. It used a whole 5 lb bag of flour, plus some! It made over 8 pizzas and cinnamon buns the next morning.

We have got a concert this weekend (possibly more) and at least one next weekend, then it's off to Alabama, then New Jersey, then home!
On the way to the birthday party a few nights ago I brought my quilt (and Hannah did a few of hers) and then some of us girls worked on binding the edges on the way there. I got all but about 5 inches finished on mine and I realized I had to get changed (and we had JUST about arrived at the party) so Hannah offered to finish mine :D (Thanks Hannah!)

Here's a picture at the party. The lighting ended up very nice, but it was hard to capture with a camera (without a tripod).

Abi and Bethany made two cakes for Nathanael (or is it Nathaniel?). I thought they were so nice looking I ought to post pictures of them.

On Sunday we had church at a park and then went hiking after we ate lunch. Here are some of us girls in front of the bus.

Last night we sang at the birthday party. It turned out great and we were able to sing for a very eclectic mix of people, both saved and not saved. Earlier in the day it had been raining, and rain had been forecasted for night so we weren't sure if it was going to be outdoors or not. When we got there it was a nice, not too cool night. While we were setting up the sky turned bright pink, and when it got dark you could see the moon go in and out from behind clouds. God's handiwork is amazing :)
While we were setting up, partly under a deck, I saw a small, dark object fall on the ground. It was a small black screw. I thought it was strange because we weren't under the deck where we were standing. I didn't know where it had come from, but for some very odd reason, I tucked it in my skirt and then forgot about it. This morning, I was in the bathroom on the bus and I saw a short black screw. I immediately thought "Oh no! I stole it. What if someone at the house really needed that?" And then my second thought was "Thank GOD!" I recognized it as the screw to my tuner that stays clipped to the head of my guitar :) It'll stay together for a short time without a screw, but eventually it'll fall apart. I started wondering where the nut might be, but when I got to my case I found the nut hadn't fallen out. Little things like that are so amazing. The last time the screw fell out (and since this is reoccurring, I know I need to fix it permanently.) it was at a truck stop and it was the same type of thing, I didn't see it fall but I picked it up because my dad always says metal things should never be thrown out, they should go in the metal scrap pile. So out of habit (sort of) I picked it up, and later realized my tuner was missing one.
While I've been at the Myers I've made three quilts with the help of Hannah, Carol blogged some pictures (one of which I'm going to take, I hope she doesn't mind!). Ths one in the picture is the first one (and the one Carol is holding is her first too), then I made two others, a blue and a pink one. I know they aren't full sized, but they are baby quilts, after all ;)

Have a great, blessed Sunday everyone!
